Sue Schachtschneider grew up with a brother and 3 sisters on a small beef and poultry farm in rural Kewaskum, WI. Loving parents worked hard on the farm and at other jobs to provide for the family and send the children to St. John’s Lutheran School in Newburg, WI, and Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI. Sue graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Her assignment out of college was to Buffalo Lutheran School in Cochrane, WI, where she taught a multigrade classroom of grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 for 19 years and served as lead teacher for 10 years. In 2012 she taught kindergarten for 1 year at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran School in Wisconsin Rapids. In 2013 she taught grades 2, 3, and 4 at Zion Lutheran School in Toledo, OH. She moved back to the family farm in 2013. In 2022 she was called back to the teaching ministry for grades 5 and 6 for one year at Christ Alone Lutheran School in Thiensville, WI. In the spring of 2024 she taught grades 5 and 6 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran School in West Bend, Wi. Currently, Sue teaches grades 7 and 8 at Trinity.
Sue loves books and music. She has 3 nieces and 1 nephew. The family farm where she still lives has 17 barn cats and 20 beef cows.
Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, “ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified and do not be overwhelmed, because the LORD you God is with you wherever you go.”
